You can however choose to build your coop on the ground or off the ground - whichever is suitable in your location, but putting in off the ground can have quiet a lot of advantages as well. It is also important to plan the litter collection in your building plan so that you will not have any sanitation problems later onwhen the chicken finally arrived.
